Milton, ONT. – Each January, Canada's green profession will gather at Landscape Ontario Congress for networking, world-class educational sessions and the best social events of the year. Congress '17 will build on the show and conferences proud tradition and promises to be the biggest and best show to date.

Awards of excellenceThe Landscape Ontario Awards of Excellence ceremony is a highlight of Congress each year, and the projects and companies featured in 2017 and some of the most incredible that we have ever seen. The "Oscars" of the green profession kick off Jan. 10 from 5-8:30 p.m. in the Plaza Ballroom at the International Plaza Hotel.

The party continues the next evening, with the ultimate appreciation event: Tailgate 2017. A popular spot to relax and network each year, Tailgate includes fantastic musical entertainment, and is free for all Congress attendees and exhibitors. Tailgate 2017 takes place on Jan. 11 from 5 to 11 p.m. in the Plaza Ballroom at the International Plaza Hotel.

Landscape Ontario Horticultural Trades Association is proud to host the
44th edition of the Congress Jan. 10-12, 20-17 at the Toronto Congress Centre and the International Plaza Hotel. The show will draw all horticulture / landscape professions together in a 3-in-1 show, which includes Garden Expo, Fencecraft and Congress. The perennial favourite trade show and conference offers:

“To achieve modern gardens, landscapes, nightscapes, outdoor living space or to source the latest trends in hobby gardening, our members and visitors need to have a one-stop buying venue.” comments Heather MacRae, Director of Events and Trade Shows. “Congress’ popularity with our contractors makes us proud. Welcoming back retail suppliers and independent garden centre owners, our partners from Garden Expo, will lend added excitement to the show after a 16-year hiatus.”

All professions, from garden centre owners to landscape and fence contractors, can see the suppliers, hear from industry experts, network and socialize in a world-class trade show that offers a conduit for professional and business development, personal growth, relationship building, networking and enriched learning. We are better together.

Sheila Murray-Belisle, a landscape architect with Belisle/Murray Landscape Architects, says Congress is a great place for her to meet with clients and see what's new in the landscape industry. "I come to Congress to meet with the nurseries because developing that relationship is important for my business," she explained. "I also come to learn about new products." As a landscape architect, Murray-Belisle believes the more communication that occurs between architects and contractors, the more projects and clients will benefit.

Trade show floorThe perception of the industry is set to change. Education and on-the-job-training has created a new generation of landscape professionals. The consensus from a recent Landscape Ontario volunteer’s meeting was that industry members are “professionals who want to work together with others to create a better world, run better businesses and participate in building better communities.” The professions work as a team and collaborate to beautify environments for customers — homes, commercial properties, public parks and outdoor spaces. The profession uses Congress to find the products, services and related professionals to make their companies more efficient and effective.

Kristen McIntyre, Landscape Ontario's event and conference manager, says Congress '17 will offer green professionals the opportunity to network and socialize at the biggest and best attended events in the industry.

"Whether it's connecting with colleagues or suppliers over drinks and music at Tailgate, or celebrating the best and brightest in the profession at the Awards of Excellence, Congress '17 is truly a can't miss experience," McIntyre said.
